Revit Extensions for Autodesk Revit Structure 2011

Autodesk have recently announced that the Revit Structure 2011 Extensions are now available for download for subscription customers. The mid release extensions normally generate a fair amount of anticipation on what is to be included. Below is a full list of the new features. Within the UK, the most prolific new feature is going to be the SDNF import and export.

Floor vibration analysis—Assess vibration characteristics to help meet requirements of the AISC Design Guide 11 (United States).

Gravity column analysis—Design steel columns based on the AISC 360-05 design code (United States).

SDNF import/export—Import or export SDNF file format.

SS3 link—Link data bi directionally between Revit Structure and SS3 so that engineers can use structural data from SS3 to create coordinated drawings and collaborate with Autodesk® Revit® Architecture software users (Japan).

Member section schedule—automatically generate member section schedules (Japan).

CSV element generator—Link to other structural analysis applications to automatically generate the structural model, including the rebar model, in Revit Structure using the CSV file format (Japan).

RC Detailing with Revit and ASD

We are finding recently that many contractors and structural consultants are now increasingly looking at providing an internal RC detailing capability instead of using specialist companies. Indeed, many of you may have a few seats of CADDS RC and are possibly looking at reducing cost and detailing solely with Revit Structure and AutoCAD Structural Detailing.

Excitech and Autodesk are hosting a free web seminar that will be addressing the above issues and many more on Thursday 23rd September at 12.00 noon. We will be covering the topics below.

•Rebar detailing using Revit Structure.

•Generate comprehensive concrete reinforcement drawings, together with rebar descriptions and material takeoffs, with AutoCAD Structural Detailing macros.

•Help speed up preparation of your reinforcement drawings with tools to automate rebar definition.

•Define reinforcement of structure members using objects and bars, with automatic accounting for covers and hooks.

•Produce drawings and schedules to BS:8666 standards.
